Concrete staining, like many art forms, involves a process. The process takes time because many of the steps have dry times associated with them.
The Basic Steps Are:
Evaluation of the Substrate – The physical attributes the moisture content and pH factors are all evaluated. A proper evaluation will assist in making design and finishing decisions so we may achieve the look and atmosphere you desire.
Performing a Test – Preparing a sample in a discrete location may be helpful if you are deciding between a couple of colors. Additionally, if color tones are critical, then a sampling to determine just how your concrete will react with the stain is advisable.
The Staining Process
Design and Color Selection – Following a thorough evaluation and testing we can make well informed decisions about design and color. Using the Florentine Floors’ assisted design technique your floor will capture the atmosphere you envisioned and reflect your personality.
Protection – Taping and protection of those items we do not want stained or damaged.
Removing Old Floor Coverings – Be careful with those tack strips you can pull up chunks of concrete with them if you don’t know the tricks of the trade. Remember, adhesives, paint and other contaminants may block the pores of the concrete and therefore hinder the chemical reaction process if not properly removed.
Substrate Preparation – Cleansing the concrete to ensure a good chemical reaction.
Staining – Usually consists of two applications. Incorporation of a variety of techniques and selecting the proper stain intensity to achieve the desired effect.
Removal of the Residue – Neutralization and removal of the by-products of the chemical reaction process.
Sealing – Normally a three to six step process.
Enjoying – The old world charm and the modern day luxury and convenience of low maintenance. Be prepared for lotsĀ of wonderful comments on your floors elegance, uniqueness and warmth.
